General
Brongwyn Cottages is a group of seven holiday cottages which have been converted from original farm buildings on a sloping site. The conversions have taken place over a number of years, during which were no accessibility regulations in force, but they did comply with any building regulation requirements at the time.
We welcome able bodied and disabled customers and have been able to create wheelchair access in some areas, but due to structural constrictions and sloping terrain, the conversions do not cater for the specific needs of all disabled people. Most of our cottages do not have access for wheel chair users, but Bramble Cottage will be suitable in some cases.
Beds in all cottages have non-feather pillows & duvets, with egyptian cotton or poly cotton duvet covers, sheets & pillowcases.
Power points and light switches at sensible heights.
Deaf or Hard of Hearing?
All televisions in the cottages have teletext.
A Hearing dog for the hearing impaired is welcome in Dairy or Bramble
Partially Sighted or Blind ?
A Guide dog or Assistance dog is welcome in Dairy or Bramble.
At each annual review we consider what further improvements can be made for the benefit of guests of all abilities, subject to the physical limitations imposed by the nature of the land and buildings.
Smokers?
From April 2008 all cottages will be "No Smoking". We will still provide ashtrays for guests who would like to smoke on the patios outside their cottage
Information
Inside each cottage, is a visitor's guide to the facilities, information about the locality as well as other important information including contact numbers for the local emergency services and hospitals.
Telephones
Some mobile phone networks have unreliable signals in cottage and surrounding area. A payphone is located in the reception foyer of the leisure centre and is available during the open times of the pool and bistro.

Nearest bus stop on A487 near Penparc cross-roads, approx ¾ mile from cottages bus service from Cardigan to Aberystwyth. Bus services are restricted

Directions
On A487, in Penparc, (Pen-y-parc), follow Brown Tourist signs for Brongwyn. Turn right opposite sign for Brongwyn Cottages onto undulating tarmac drive, (wide enough in most places for vehicles to pass). Follow signs to slightly sloping tarmac car park reserved for cottage guests, which is well lit.
Access Statement for Granary Cottage
Accommodation on one floor for up to 4 peopleand cot. 2 bedrooms
From car park to Granary Cottage is approx. 100m. virtually level tarmac driveway. Cars may be driven to cottage patio entrance for essential loading/un-loading, and must then be returned to the car park.
Four steps down to access patio area with subdued garden lighting then three steps down to path with external light. (steps between 150 - 200 mm)
Doors vary between 700mm - 850mm
LOUNGE with two settees, remote controls for TV etc.
Ceiling spotlight inside doorway, table lamp, 3 wall lights.
KITCHEN/DINER. Dining area has table and chairs, Kitchen work surface height 900mm, sink with twist taps. Centre light, 2 spotlights over kitchen area & wall light.
Bedroom 1 Double bed.
Bedroom 2 Two twin beds both close to wall one side, 450mm between beds
Shower room. Step in shower, W.C. & washbasin with screw taps.
Access Statement for Dairy
Accommodation is provided on one floor for up to four people and cot, 2 bedrooms
Approach to Dairy, from cottage car park is on foot, via a sloping tarmac drive to a terraced courtyard with level gravelled areas linked by paved pathways and several short sets of steps (between 2 and 4 steps of varying depths). Cars may be driven to top of courtyard for essential loading/un-loading, and must then be returned to the car park.

Access Statement for Clover, Primrose and Honeysuckle
Accommodation is provided on three floors for up to 6 people and cot. 3 bedrooms
Approach to Clover, Primrose and Honeysuckle Cottages from car park is on foot, via a sloping tarmac drive to a terraced courtyard with level gravelled areas linked by paved pathways and several short sets of steps (between 2 and 4 steps of varying depths). Cars may be driven to top of courtyard for essential loading/un-loading, and must then be returned to the car park.

Access Statement for Bramble
Accommodation all on one floor for up to 6 people and cot. 3 bedrooms
For wheelchair users and those with limited mobility using Bramble Cottage, the Pool car park can be made available, giving pedestrian access via the pathway (approx 32m (part hard surfaced, part stoned surfaced) and a ramped incline to the kitchen door of Bramble Cottage, without using steps.

Cars may be driven to top of courtyard for essential loading/un-loading, and must then be returned to the car park.

Access Statement for Barley Cottage
Accommodation is provided on two floors for up to 5 people and cot. 3 bedrooms
Approach to Barley from car park is on foot, via a sloping tarmac drive to a terraced courtyard with level gravelled areas linked by paved pathways and several short sets of steps (between 1 and 2 steps of varying depths). Cars may be driven to top of courtyard for essential loading/un-loading, and must then be returned to the car park.

ACCESS TO SWIMMING POOL, SALON, GYM & BISTRO
From the Cottage car park, a sloping tarmac driveway leads to a level, tarmac car park, which serves the Swimming Pool and Leisure Complex.
From this car park, a well lit, 1.2m wide, hard surfaced path is level for 19m, then inclines 1:12 to join a level, paved area with 1:20 ramp to provide access to the Swimming Pool and Leisure Complex and main Reception Office for the cottages.
Entrance to building is through a low threshold, 1m.wide doorway into
Main Foyer which is accessible and well lit during pool and Bistro opening times, and has tourist information leaflets, and
RECEPTION OFFICE. The building is non- smoking throughout. It is fitted with audible fire/smoke alarm system, emergency lighting, and fire exit signs are in place throughout the building.
An alcove 570mm wide houses a PAY PHONE, which is 1100mm from floor level.
From Foyer, level tiled access is provided to: -
WHEEL CHAIR ACCESSIBLE, UNISEX TOILET/ PRIVATE CHANGING ROOM.

Baby changing station
BISTRO, 840mm wide door, with 7 tables, and chairs to seat 28 people. Large print menu available.
840mm wide door usually for staff use, but able to provide direct access when necessary to SEATING AREA beside pool, where space can be made available to accommodate a wheel-chair..
CHANGING ROOMS, 840mm wide door with 1.2 m. hallway leading to ladies and gents changing rooms, with lockers (requiring a returnable £1.00 coin ), hair dryer and toddler safety seat. From changing rooms, access to swimming pool is level, past communal shower area, and toilets, and passing SOLARIUM, which is accessed through a 840mm wide door and houses a vertical tanning unit with low threshold door.
SWIMMING POOL 4m. x 11m.
All one depth, 1.4m and kept to a temperature of 30 degrees.
Accessed by tiled steps with handrail to pool level.
3m. x 7m. SEATING AREA.
SAUNA and STEAM-ROOM at side of pool.
Fire exit door has push bar opening.
Non-slip tiles are used throughout building but caution is needed in wet areas around pool and in shower and changing areas. There are no specific accessibility aids, and there is no lifeguard
STAIRS 1000mm wide from Foyer area 16 steps with shallow risers of 180mm giving access to THERAPY SALON and FITNESS STUDIO*. The salon couch is electronic and can be lowered for treatments. Both rooms have 840mm wide doors
*This entrance can be made available to access the FITNESS SUITE and THERAPY SALON, thereby avoiding stairs.
GAMES ROOM
From the Cottage car park access to GAMES ROOM is provided via a 1.2m slightly sloping tarmac pathway, and a 1000mm wide wooden connecting bridge. Doorway is 900mm wide with low threshold.
* This entrance can be made available to access the FITNESS SUITE and THERAPY SALON, thereby avoiding stairs.
LAUNDRY ROOM
From the level, tarmac car park area near the Swimming Pool, communal LAUNDRY ROOM is accessed via ramp or steps through a locked 780mm wide door. (keys are provided for cottage guests). 2 Automatic Washing Machines are under a 900 mm worktop, with 2 Tumble Driers above.
